Based on new documentary materials and principles of objective research, the monograph analyzes the policy of the Russian government on the introduction of a “Temporary regulation on field management” in the Orenburg Region and the consequences of administrative reform for Kazakh society. The Orenburg Region is considered as an object of application of colonial methods of imperial power. The colonial meaning of administrative reform and regional policy of imperial Russia is revealed.
In order to clarify the actual and historiographical level of the problem, the monograph presents manuscripts and historical documents from archival collections and some works of Russian researchers and administrative officials as appendices.
This research work of the author is addressed to university teachers and students, historians and the general public interested in the history of the Kazakh people.
