Cultural studies is a subject of the philosophical and humanitarian cycle, contributing to the formation of students’ skills in analyzing and evaluating complex and diverse phenomena of cultural life of historical epochs and civilizations of different peoples, moral and humane values, enriching the spiritual world, developing imaginative thinking and emotional adequacy.
In four sections of the textbook, the theory and history of culture of the Eurasian continent are considered – from the primitive era, the Ancient World, Antiquity, the Middle Ages, to Modern and Modern times. A separate section presents the history of national, Kazakh culture as an integral part of the world cultural process.
The proposed textbook includes 20 lectures; it reflects the current state of cultural science and the experience of teaching cultural studies in higher educational institutions of Kazakhstan.
