The textbook presents lecture notes on the theory and methodology of literature. They include topics in the courses “Introduction to Literary Studies”, “Theory of Literature”, and a special course on the content system. and the forms of the work of art, the methodology and methods of analysis of the epic, lyrics, drama. It attempts to cover the controversial cardinal problems of literary criticism – the content and form, system and structure of a work of art, kind, style, genre form, genre, genre variety, text, discourse, model, concept, etc.
Comparing the variety of points of view, the author offers his vision, focusing on the need to solve these problems in the interdependence of the system of content and form.
The lectures are accompanied by plans, diagrams, questions and assignments, a list of references, and appendices.
Taking into account laboratory classes, textbook materials have also been introduced for students’ classroom work with vocabulary and research texts.
